ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) held an important meeting in which it thoroughly reviewed the statements so far given by both sons of the prime minister -- Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz -- to give final touches to its second investigation report to be submitted to the Supreme Court bench, the sources told The News here on Sunday.

The JIT would submit its report in line with the directions of the three-member Supreme Court bench constituted to implement the verdict of the apex court in the Panama Leaks case. It would be its second investigation report as the first one was submitted on May 22 on which the Supreme Court bench expressed its satisfaction with regard to the progress in the investigation process.

The sources said the JIT would also inform the apex court about the documentary evidences produced by Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz. They said the report would also carry remarks of some of the members with reference to upcoming appearance of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and president of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Saeed Ahmad in the context of Hudaibya Paper Mills case.

"The JIT has decided to summon Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for his personal appearance with regard to his confessional statement given on April 25, 2000 in which he had alleged that the Sharif brothers used the Hudaibya Paper Mills as cover for money laundering during the late 1990s," the sources said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the 43-page confessional statement of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was recorded on April 25, 2000 before the District Magistrate, Lahore. He was produced before the court by the then Assistant Director Basharat M Shahzad of the Federal Investigation Agency.

The sources said the JIT in its report would **t provide any kind of conclusion on the basis of the investigation so far done by it but would certainly inform the Supreme Court bench about the direction being taken to move further in the investigation process.
