Opponents of the Dakota Access Pipeline warned this would happen. They probably didn't expect it to come so soon, however.

The newly completed conduit, which cuts across a reservoir relied on by members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, leaked 84 gallons of crude oil in South Dakota in early April, recent media reports (http://hosted2.ap.org/COGRA/d30f3f32e9d849979111e891380b64db/Article_2017-05-10-US%20%E2%80%93%20Oil%20Pipeline-Leak/id-fea1f447e5664795bf30077ad2dcba1e) indicate.

Members of the tribe, who fought hard (http://mashable.com/2016/11/15/dakota-access-pipeline-protests/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) to block part of the pipeline's construction, said the relatively small spill bolsters their argument that Dakota Access threatens their water supplies and livelihoods.
