ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s House on Monday issued a strong-worded clarification on the remarks made by the PTI leader Imran Khan in which he deliberately twisted the observations of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and played the video out of context about eradication of corruption.
The clarification says: “Reference Prime Minister's media talk during his visit to the new Islamabad International Airport on Saturday last regarding probe into the undue delays and phe**menal increases in the cost of development projects initiated during the previous regimes.
“The prime minister was asked whether the present government is considering investigation and identification to find those responsible in the previous government so that such practice is **t repeated in future.
“It is clarified that the response of the prime minister to the query raised by the journalist was unfortunately quoted out of context. “Referring to the corruption scandals of the past regimes, the prime minister stressed holding those accountable who were at the helm in the past and looted public money while claiming to serve the nation.
“The prime minister while endorsing the need to hold the previous regimes accountable said such probes must obviously reach their logical conclusions. “History is witness to the fact that Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N)'s government has always come into power after the people of Pakistan renewed the credentials of the party's leadership.
“This is the result of ho**ring of commitments made by PML-N's leadership to the people of Pakistan. “The government's commitment to root out corruption is evident from the fact that despite completing mega projects in diverse fields, there is ** scam of corruption against the present government.
“The government has ensured merit and transparency in the execution of all projects; saving billions of rupees for the national exchequer. “The government, however, can’t divert its energies from bringing revolution in the socio-eco**mic spheres and accomplishing the hitherto ig**red infrastructure development in the country in a qualitative and transparent manner.“There is rule of law in the country and all institutions are performing their mandated duties without fear or favour.”
