ISLAMABAD: Foreign ****** Spokesman Nafees Zakaria on Monday said Pakistan-Afghan border was internationally recognized border whose management was vital to controlling terrorism.

Talking to the state-run TV, he said Terrorism was a common threat to both the countries and peace could **t be maintained without securing the border between them. “Pakistan, on its part, has been taking measures for border management but Afghanistan did **t take any step in that regard,” he added.

“Pakistan, being a peace loving country, has a policy to maintain good relations with all its neighbouring countries,” he said. He said misunderstandings between both the countries would **t be ******* unless Pakistan and Afghanistan held talks.

Zakaria said there was ** war between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding that Afghanistan committed border violation and Pakistan took steps which it had to take. He stressed the need for resolving issues through dialogue between the two countries. He said Pakistan and Afghanistan were fighting against terrorism and there was a need for further efforts to combat the menace.

To a question about the Afghan attack on Pakistani bordering areas, he said the Afghan government had been informed through diplomatic channels that national census was being conducted in Pakistan and the teams would be visiting the border areas for the purpose.

Pakistan was a sovereign country and had the right to take measures for protecting its national security, he made it clear. Zakaria said India had been baffled because the whole world knew that it was involved in state terrorism in the sovereign countries of the world. The statements of Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadev and Ehsanullah Ehsan and many other things were a proof of that, he **ted.

The spokesperson said Pakistan’s foreign policy was based on peaceful neighbourhood and “it wants to move ahead with this foreign policy whether it is India, Afghanistan, Iran or China.
