Upon giving birth to a nine-pound baby on April 27, a new mom was surprised to find her chosen birth control method hiding among her placenta. In a hysterical birth an**uncement (https://www.instagram.com/p/BTZ-dAMBb0V/) that has since gone viral, Lucy Hellein shared a staged shot of her newborn gripping her IUD. She hashtagged the photo, "Mirena fail!"
Although intrauterine devices - or IUDs, as they're commonly called - are 99 percent effective (https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/iud/how-effective-are-iuds) at preventing pregnancies, Lucy seems to have been a part of that rare 1 percent group. She **ted her baby's "strength" in one of her hashtags which read, "Little Jedi."
