The most valuable automaker in the U.S. (http://mashable.com/2017/04/10/tesla-worth-more-than-gm-and-ford/) said it plans to open a line of company-owned body shops for Tesla owners in need of out-of-warranty repairs in its Q1 2017 quarterly earnings letter (http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/ABEA-4CW8X0/3100816692x0x940721/8E9FC98F-343C-4D2E-8516-491DEFB9B69B/TSLA_Q1_2017_Update_Letter.pdf).
The new service comes as part of an infrastructure effort to expand "the density and geographic footprint of our presence" in preparation of the launch of the "affordable" Model 3 (http://mashable.com/category/model-3/) later this year, according to the letter.
