Self-driving tech**logy is shifting to the bus lane.
Proterra (https://www.proterra.com/), an electric bus (http://mashable.com/2015/11/04/proterra-urban-transportation/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) manufacturer, just an**unced its three-phase plan (https://www.proterra.com/press-release/emphasizing-safe-intelligent-transportation-proterra-begins-first-auto**mous-bus-program-in-the-united-states/) to create the self-driving public transit system of the future, filled with auto**mous, emission-free electric buses. The company says the move to auto**my should make mass transit safer and more efficient than ever before.
The company is partnering with the University of Nevada, Re**'s Intelligent Mobility program (https://www.unr.edu/ncar/about-us/im) to make it happen. The university's Living Lab Coalition, which is supported by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, Nevada, will allow the self-driving system to be developed on the streets of Re**, Sparks, and Carson City.* Read more...
