Samsung's trouble with the Galaxy **te 7, which **tably caused several fires due to battery troubles (https://www.macrumors.com/2017/01/23/samsung-**te7-battery-investigation/) and led to a full recall, hasn't affected demand for its newly launched (https://www.macrumors.com/2017/03/29/samsung-galaxy-s8-unveiled/) Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
According to a statement released this morning by Samsung (via VentureBeat (https://venturebeat.com/2017/04/24/samsung-galaxy-s8-u-s-pre-orders-set-new-record-beat-s7-by-30/)), Samsung saw 30 percent year-over-year growth in preorders compared to the Galaxy S7. While Samsung did **t give specific sales numbers, the company said it saw its "best ever" preorder period.
