ISLAMABAD: Legal experts have said the findings of the Joint Investigation Team will be very important in the Panama case.
Talking to The News, Naeem Bokhari said there was ** precedent for questions raised by the supreme court against the prime minister in the Panama case. He said that in the aftermath of the SC judgment, the rulers should realise the situation and go home. He said PTI Chairman Imran Khan would have lost the case had the petition been ‘thrown away’.
The prime minister’s counsel Makhdoom Ali declined to comment and only said how he could give reaction to the judgment in a case in which he was a party. “Whatever my opinion was, I gave to the apex court and that’s it,” he maintained.
Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry said all five SC judges declared that the prime minister was **t honest while two judges gave him a certificate of disqualification. He said that after going through the judgment, one could easily find out that the two judges clearly decided against the prime minister while the other three wanted more investigations against him. “Hence, one may say the prime minister lost justification to remain in ******,” he said.
PTI’s spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that as per the judgment, the prime minister would appear before the JIT where he would face ******rs of grade 18,19 and 20. "Just imagine, how the prime minister will be questioned by the JIT," he said and claimed that the future investigations could land the PM and his children in prison.
PML-N leader Uzma Bokhari said the judgment was **t against the prime minister and that the appearance of the PM and his sons before the JIT would boost their dignity.
