Thoroughly sick of jaywalkers, the Chinese city of Wuhan has decided to go big and install subway-style gates on its sidewalks.
The gates (http://news.163.com/photoview/00AP0001/2250903.html?from=ph_ss#p=CIDLIS2800AP0001) remain closed when the red light is on, preventing pedestrians from dashing across the road, reports state media outlet, People's Daily. (https://www.facebook.com/PeoplesDaily/posts/1506240532761092)

But netizens aren't exactly convinced the idea makes sense.
"I don't k**w what to say, do we need to go to such drastic measures?" said one netizen on social media platform Weibo. (http://www.weibo.com/2656274875/EFd7whA81?type=comment#_rnd1492681627013)
