Will investors ever stop throwing money at ride-hailing?*

Lyft raised at least a**ther $500 million, according to news reports (https://www.ft.com/content/c5a5eb26-ab85-39c7-9dcf-2bf825c2f87c) on Thursday. The $500 million-plus bump puts Lyft's value at $6.9 billion.*

The fundraise follows up on Lyft's last funding round (https://blog.lyft.com/posts/lyft-1billion-gm) a little over a year ago, which brought $1 billion to the company and valued it at $4.5 billion. So a $2 billion jump in value in 15 months isn't bad.*

Uber is still worth much more (about $70 billion), despite its never-ending problems (http://mashable.com/2017/02/19/delete-uber-hashtag-is-back/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial). Lyft has been quietly taking advantage of Uber's fall from grace with do-gooder initiatives like ways to donate the spare change from your ride to charity (http://mashable.com/2017/03/26/lyft-round-up-and-donate/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) and its own donation to the ACLU (http://mashable.com/2017/01/29/lyft-aclu-donation-trump-muslim-ban/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial). And there was that time Lyft's president claimed (http://mashable.com/2017/03/28/lyft-is-**t-woke/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) the company was the "woke" ride-hailing option.* Read more...
