UK targets WhatsApp and encrypted messaging after London attack

The UK government wants there to be "** place for terrorists to hide," and that includes on encrypted messaging services. The company first on its agenda? WhatsApp.
Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04y2cnh) on Sunday, Home Secretary Amber Rudd called for companies that provide secure communication apps to work with law enforcement.

"We need to make sure that organisations like WhatsApp, and there are plenty of others like that, don't provide a secret place for terrorists to communicate with each other," she said.*
"It used to be that people would steam open envelopes or listen in on phones when they wanted to find out what people were doing, legally, through warrantry [sic]. But in this situation, we need to make sure that our intelligence services have the ability to get into situations like encrypted WhatsApp." Read more...
