https://www.thenews.com.pk/assets/uploads/akhbar/2017-03-27/l_194751_045346_print.jpg KARACHI: While talking about Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who recently returned from Dubai after two years, said that the interior minister was used of taking U-turns and was in the practice of threatening opposition members. He said this while addressing a press conference here on Sunday at his residence.
Questioning the interior minister's role, he said that Nisar showed 'over efficiency' in the spot-fixing case but showed flexibility when it came to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.
He said those who put his name on the Exit Control List did **t put the name of their leaders on the ECL. Memon asked, “Why didn't he [Nisar] put the names of the prime minister and his family members on the Exit Control List?”
The PPP leader said that Nisar should at least respect his post and work honestly, instead of making tall claims. “He is doing everything that he should **t be doing,” said the PPP leader. He further said that Nisar went missing for a week after every major incident of terrorism. “He [Nisar] thinks that Pakistan is his property and he can do whatever he wants to but he is mistaken, we won’t let this happen,” Memon said, adding that Pakistan could **t be run like this.
Clarifying his position on cases against him, Memon said a case was filed against him in October, 2016. He vowed that he would **t take any stay and would face all the cases against him.
He expressed firm faith in the judiciary and said that he returned to Pakistan to present himself before the courts and **t to take charge of any department. “Pakistan People’s Party will contest all these baseless cases,” he maintained. The former provincial minister recently ended his two-year-long self-imposed exile to return to Pakistan, where he was arrested and released after a short detention by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials.
Memon is facing several charges of monetary misappropriation and corruption. Last week, he was granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court against Rs2 million surety bonds till April 5, 2017. Shortly after the press conference, Memon left for Hyderabad to attend a meeting.
