Apple has discontinued the third-generation Apple TV (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/apple-tv/), removing it from its online store. Additionally, links to the Apple TV 3 **w reroute (http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-tv/apple-tv-3rd-gen) to the fourth-generation Apple TV. Apple confirmed it was discontinuing the device in an email to employees and educators obtained (https://9to5mac.com/2016/10/04/apple-tv-third-gen-discontinued/) by 9to5Mac.

The Cuperti** company will continue to fulfill backlog orders for the device, but is **w putting its attention behind the newer fourth-generation device. In early September, it was reported that Apple had begun phasing out (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/08/apple-said-to-be-phasing-out-third-generation-apple-tv/) the Apple TV 3, pulling it from its brick-and-mortar stores
