ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq said the expression of solidarity with the incumbent government on Kashmir should **t mean that the JI had withdrawn from its demand of accountability of rulers and other corrupt elements.
“The attitude of the rulers regarding accountability is becoming intolerable and it is harmful to the democratic system and integrity of the country,” Sirajul Haq, while talking to newsmen at residence of naib Ameer Mian Aslam, said.
He said the government should **t give any colour to the consensus reached on the Kashmir issue at the All Parties Conference (APC) saying that there was ** change in their stance on the accountability issue. The JI leader said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had shattered the confidence of the nation on the issue of accountability, particularly with regard to PanamaLeaks.
“The end of corruption was very much possible had the prime minister appeared before the court of law to present himself for accountability,” he said. The JI leader said the present government itself was a major hurdle in the way of supremacy of law and the Constitution, saying the government still had the time to an**unce transparent investigations into the PanamaLeaks and accountability of corrupt elements. At the same time, Senator Sirajul Haq said that unity and solidarity between the nation and political parties on issue of Kashmir was in the national interests and need of the hour.
