ISLAMABAD: The Annual Director Generals Conference of the National Accountability Bureau will start from today (Monday) in which various issues related to improvement of NAB’s performance will be discussed objectively.
NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry will chair 3-day 21th annual Director Generals (DGs) Conference of National Accountability Bureau starting from today (Monday), which will be attended by Deputy Chairman NAB, Prosecutor General Accountability (PGA) and all Regional DGs.
During the conference, performance of NAB Regional Bureaus on the basis of measures taken by present management of NAB such as introduction of Combined Investigation Teams (CIT), review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) making them relevant to the current times, rational time lines of 10 months for completing inquiries and investigations, capacity building trainings of NAB ******rs/officials beside objective appraisal of Partly Quantified Grading System and Internal Accountability Mechanism (IAM) will come under discussion.
Moreover, moving with the tide of time, NAB’s newly developed indige**us Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) for institutionalizing the support and supervision at different levels of management will also come under discussion.
Effective Anti-Corruption Strategy under the leadership of NAB Chairman, efforts and review of two years has **w made the NAB to achieve its objectives of becoming an efficient and dependable anti-corruption agency.
With continuous development of existing workforce through trainings and an enabling, consultative work environment and the induction of 110 investigation ******rs, NAB is **w more than adequately equipped to perform its functions.
The conference will also discuss effectiveness of newly established Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS). On the basis of this System, NAB Regional Bureaus have been evaluated at a given criteria. Operational methodology including effectiveness of Combine Investigation Teams (CIT) and performance of Prosecution and Awareness and Prevention Divisions will also come under discussion and after detailed deliberation and on the basis of collective wisdom, a comprehensive Anti-Corruption Strategy will be formulated in order to further improve the performance of NAB.
The conference will continue for a**ther two days. The Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) including pilot project will be discussed in the Monday’s conference for detailed deliberations and on the basis of consultation with all DG’s of NAB, it will be implemented in all the NAB Regional Bureaus for effective working and monitoring and evolution of performance of each region.
The NAB has developed an effective Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) catering the needs of all concerned having salient features of maintenance of data at each stage including complaint entry, complaint verification, inquiry, investigation, prosecution stage and record preservation of regional board meetings and executive board meetings including case brief, decisions made and list of participants attended the meeting with time and date and ability to analyse data in qualitative and quantitative form having warnings and alarms system for violators.
The pilot project of NAB Rawalpindi has been completed on the directions of NAB chairman in order to have first hand information about the working of monitoring and evaluation system.
