SUKKUR: The Provincial Minister of Culture, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, taking **tice of alleged corruption in the preservation and conservation project of two historical mosques in Jacobabad, has ordered the secretary of culture to get an FIR registered against the engineers and contractors.

The minister, on the complaints of some people, had gone to Jacobabad on Saturday to observe the preservation and conservation project of Jama Masjid Zangipur and Jama Masjid Hyderpur. The cost of the project is Rs56.39 million.

After the visit, he said that the spirit of the conservation and preservation exercise was **t to damage or destroy the originality but to restore the historical places to their original shape.

The minister said that he was shocked to see that the contractors had indulged in unusual construction work with low quality material, which was a crime, and that he would **t spare the ******rs and contractors involved.

He ordered the Secretary of Culture, Akbar Leghari, to get an FIR registered against the ******rs and contractors involved in using low-quality material and carrying out **n-standard construction.

The minister also visited the Victoria Tower in Jacobabad where he questioned the management why the tower was in a dilapidated condition in the light of the fact that a huge amount of money had been spent on its rehabilitation.
