From Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH: MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq of the PML-N has criticised the National Highways Authority (NHA) for allegedly closing a thoroughfare near Pirmahal during construction of Peshawar-Lahore-Karachi Motorway.

Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, he said that 65-foot wide and 3.5km Katcha road was in use of the farmers for the last several decades for transporting their produces. He said that the Katcha road connected Pirmahal-Faisalabad Road at Chak Kohal Kalan, Pirmahal-Shorkot Cantonment Road at Chak 320/GB. During construction of the motorway, the NHA allegedly blocked the road for traffic. He demanded the NHA reopen the road and construct a bridge over it. He warned that if his demand was **t accepted, he would be forced to lead a protest of the farmers against the NHA for wrongly closing of the road. He claimed that he had written a letter to the chief minister, demanding him construction of the 3.5km Katcha road to facilitate the farmers. He said that the road might also be used as Pirmahal city’s ring road. He hoped that the CM would approve funds for the project.
