Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared that India will mount a global campaign to isolate Pakistan in the world. In his first speech after the attack on an Indian Army base in Indian-held Kashmir, he barked: “We will isolate you. I will work for that.” But the whining did **t stop there. “Terrorist attacks in Bangladesh and Afghanistan were also being instigated from Pakistan.” He also accused Pakistan of trying to destabilise Asia by exporting terrorism. One does **t k**w whether to laugh or cry on these preposterous allegations.
Coming up with strange hitherto undeclared figures, Modi also claimed that in the last four months, Indian security forces had killed 110 terrorists who had crossed the impenetrable Line of Control. Lies, more lies, **thing but lies.
On the other hand, the Indian government has started working to exploit what they perceive as separatist tendencies in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan on multiple lines. There are reports in the Indian media that an Under Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, identified as Asish, **w wants local media coverage of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir through Satyanaryana Sastry Raghuram. The aim is to highlight the so-called local disputes, crimes, clan killings and violence at street level and portray them as serious human rights issues to drown out the Indian forces’ atrocities in held Kashmir.
On the other hand, the Pakistani approach to the whole issue has been sensible and rational. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi said on Thursday that Pakistan would **t be drawn into the war talk. “India has been beating the war drum in response to the diplomatic pressure (on prevailing rights human situation in Kashmir). We don’t think any such threat of war is imminent. Any such **tion between two nuclear powers will be irrational,” she told a private TV channel. And that is the truth, the whole truth and **thing but the truth.
**t one western country or that in the east has taken the Indian allegation of blaming Pakistan for the Uri attack seriously. Even the United States has largely ig**red it. Was Burhan Wani who was killed by India a Pakistani? Were thousands of protesters appearing everyday on held Kashmir streets sent by Islamabad? Why did the Uri attack took place when Pakistani prime minister was about to expose the inhumane conditions in Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly? How could a bunch of militants cross the mightiest fence on the LoC as the Indian forces were already on a high alert? The plot is full of holes.
Narendra Modi’s declaration that India will mount a global campaign to isolate Pakistan in the world is a more of a political statement that holds little substance. He has to keep up the appearance and address the Indian people to put up the façade of being in control in held Kashmir.
However, the centerpiece of Modi’s policy was and remains attempts to destablise Pakistan through mounting false flag operations, supporting separatist tendencies, carrying out sabotage activities and shouting at the top of his lungs to drown out the grave human rights violations in held Kashmir. But sooner or later he has to climb down on rhetoric. Let’s hope it is sooner than later.
