KARACHI: PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said he had come to Karachi to urge its residents to attend the Raiwind march in order to help him exert pressure on the state institutions for accountability of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said this while addressing editors at a discussion organised by the PTI at a local hotel.

He said it had been six months since the Panama Papers had exposed Nawaz Sharif for having offshore accounts and other concealed assets. “This led to the resignation of the prime minister of Iceland, and then British Prime Minister David Cameron was held answerable to parliament.”

However, he said in Pakistan the state of affairs was such that the PTI k**cked on the doors of every institution, including parliament, Supreme Court, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) but received ** justice.

He said Nawaz had ruined all state institutions by infiltrating them with his cronies and resorting to blatant nepotism and cronyism.

He alleged that the FBR chairman was responsible for sending Rs250 million per month to Dubai, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman was the one who helped Nawaz Sharif rig the last elections.

“The only way out is to have public pressure on state institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to support me to build pressure on these state institutions and to support during the upcoming march on Raiwind.

“It is **t only Nawaz Sharif but also these institutions that are on trial. This is our Jihad against corruption, which is the biggest cancer affecting Pakistan,” he said.

Imran urged the overseas Pakistanis to help him in any way possible just as they had helped him to establish the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.

Earlier, talking to the media upon his arrival in Karachi, Imran said the country’s money was being looted and government institutions were in the process of destruction due to corruption.

“PTI is Pakistan’s biggest party and its fame has reached the highest points these days. We will show how big party is the PTI on September 30,” Imran said.

“Let there be ** doubts about what PanamaLeaks revealed about Nawaz Sharif’s corruption. And if he gets away with it this time, all the corrupt persons would go unpunished.”

Imran welcomed separation of MQM Pakistan from its founder and said a person sitting in London was responsible for spreading terrorism. He was hopeful that Karachi residents would also participate in the Raiwind march.
