Says Uri attack will be avenged; Pakistan can**t manage Balochistan, Pakhtunistan, Gilgit and Sindh and talk about Kashmir; accuses Pakistan of exporting terror
MUMBAI: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised Pakistan on Saturday, accusing it of being an exporter of terrorism, and vowing to mount a global campaign to isolate it.
The comments follow the September 18 attack on an Indian Army camp in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK), which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan. The attack claimed the lives of 18 Indian soldiers, in the biggest blow to Indian security forces in the disputed region for 14 years.
“People of Pakistan should question their leadership on why, when both countries gained freedom together, while India exports software, Pakistan exports terrorists,” Modi said.
Modi was giving a speech at a meeting of his Bharatiya Janata Party, whose leaders have said there should be a strong response to the attack, which took place in Uri.
“India has and never will bow down in the face of terrorism,” Modi said, adding that the Uri attack will be avenged.
Modi said Pakistan waged 1,000 years war against India only to invoke the formation of Bangladesh.
“There is a sentiment of anger in the country (after Uri attack) ... Terrorists must realise that our country is **t going to forget it ... The rulers of neighbouring country (Pakistan) had vowed to fight for 1,000 years ... You could **t manage East Pakistan...**w, you find it difficult to manage Pakhtunistan, Sindh, Gilgit and Balochistan, but they are trying to talk about Kashmir. They should better try to manage what’s still with them,” Modi said.
The Indian prime minister also highlighted his efforts at isolating Pakistan for its “patronisation of terror as a State policy”.
“People say that 21st Century is Asia’s century and every Asian country is making efforts to realise this. But, one country is hell bent to arrest Asian rise by terrorism and it continues to conspire for it .. this lone country is busy in exporting terror everywhere ... Whenever a news about terror comes, either the terrorists came from that country or took shelter like Osama bin Laden there after the terror incidents,” Modi said, adding that India had succeeded in isolating Pakistan.
“Today’s rulers (of Pakistan) read the sentences dictated by the terrorist chiefs and talk about Kashmir ... Country (India) has ** expectations from leaders who read from the speeches prepared by terrorist chiefs,” Modi said.
Even as he an**unced his trust deficit with Pakistan’s civilian leadership, the Indian prime minister appealed to the people of Pakistan to be beware of its leadership.
Modi sought to suggest that India was ready to wage a war but observed a restraint against war mongering to suggest waging a war against poverty, unemployment, lack of education, infant mortality and maternal mortality.
