PESHAWAR: Gover**r Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said the entire process of return and rehabilitation of displaced tribesmen is underway through a comprehensive strategy and timelines are being met efficiently.
He expressed these views at a workshop titled “Peace and Development in Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” organised by the Alumni Association.
Fata parliamentarians, additional chief secretary, Fata and representatives of civil society were also present.
On the occasion, the gover**r handed over a cheque for Rs1,46,13,084 to TDP’s Secretariat on behalf of the association.
Addressing the workshop, Gover**r Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said Fata has undergone immense troubled times during the past one and a half decades. “Approximately 450,000 families were displaced from their native areas. More than 2500 public service institutions and more than 100,000 houses were either damaged or completely destroyed,” he said, adding that the situation in Fata is improving day by day with the efforts of security forces. He said approximately 350,000 families have returned to their native areas.
“An amount of Rs8 billion has been spent on rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure,” he added.
