Directed by Anjum Shahzad and written by Sarmad Sehbai, Mah-e-Mir was **t an average film. It didn’t do too well at the box ******, where cinema-goers complained that the film was too difficult for the average viewer to comprehend. However, it was received very well by critics for its subject matter. Therefore it comes as ** surprise that the film is being **minated by the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee for Oscar consideration.
While the final **minations will be decided by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences later in January 2017, it’s heartening to see Mah-e-Mir get the recognition it deserves. The Pakistani committee consists of many re**wned names of the Pakistani film industry, such as Academy and Emmy award winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chi**y, Iram Parveen Bilal, Zeba Bakhtiar, Adnan Siddiqui, Hasan Zaidi, Sheema Kermani, Sarmad Khoosat, Jamshed Mahmood Raza, Jamil Dehlavi and Adnan Sarwar.
Shahzad, who has recently delivered a**ther big contribution to Pakistani cinema, Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai, is proud of his work. “I am thrilled by the news. For an ensemble of extremely creative cast and crew this film is a labour of love. Each one of us is proud to be a part of it. I would like to thank the committee for considering our effort worthy of representation and would like to take this opportunity to thank the media, cinema owners and above all the audiences for supporting us.”
