NEW YORK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday at the United Nations headquarters to discuss Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
PM Nawaz Sharif continued to meet global leaders at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Hassan Rouhani stressed on the need for more defence cooperation between both countries and said that both Pakistan and Iran's safety was connected with each other. The Iranian President said he considered Pakistan's progress like the progress of his own country.
"Iran and Pakistan have cooperated with each other in defence in the past as well," he said. "Iran would like to be a part of the China-Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor," he said. The Irani President extended an invite to PM Nawaz to visit Iran.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said after the lifting of eco**mic sanctions from Iran, Pakistan desired to double its volume of bilateral trade with the country. He said two focal persons would be appointed on Pak-Iran gas pipeline and other energy projects.
Chabahar and Gwadar ports will prove to be beneficial for regional trade," said Nawaz Sharif.
PM Nawaz addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday in which he de**unced Indian state terrorism and called on UN to conduct an independent probe into the abuse of human rights in occupied Kashmir.
