WASHINGTON: Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, John Kirby, issued a ****** of statements on Wednesday in which he disclosed the fact that US Secretary of State John Kerry and Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif expressed concern over the brutalities and human rights violations being committed in occupied Kashmir.
According to details, Kirby said John Kerry and Nawaz Sharif exchanged views on Afghanistan and the regional situation as well as strategic dialogue between Pakistan and the United States. Both individuals also spoke about the importance of USA-Pakistan relations.
Kerry praised efforts of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in improving the eco**my of Pakistan and also welcomed Pakistan's cooperation with regard to climate change, according to Kirby. He also paid tribute to Pakistan for hosting Afghan refugees for the past forty years. Kerry praised Pakistani armed forces for their efforts in rooting out militancy and fighting terrorism.
John Kirby stated that during the Nawaz-Kerry meeting, the latter placed special emphasis and importance on limiting the nuclear program.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is in New York to address the 71st United Nations General Assembly, during which he is expected to speak about regional, global issues and stress on world leaders to deal with violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir.
Violence in Kashmir has taken a turn for the worse after the assassination of freedom fighter Burhan Wani, by Indian security forces. More than one hundred civilians have been martyred and thousands have been injured after demonstrations and protests broke out in occupied Kashmir.
