Bullet-riddled body found from Jatoi Canal

SUKKUR: A bullet-riddled body of a woman was recovered by police from Jatoi Canal. The deceased was later identified as Rozina Rind. Police were investigating the case. A man, Sultan Zardari, allegedly killed his son-in-law in Nawabshah. Police said that the deceased, Ghulam Shabbir Zardari, had married the suspect’s daughter without his consent which apparently led to the murder. Meanwhile, Afzal and Imran died in an accident. The deceased had been riding on their motorcycle when it collided with a passenger wagon near Sajawal.



Senior journalist dies

SUKKUR: A senior journalist, Imtiaz Gorrar, died of cardiac arrest here. His friends said that he was chatting with them at the Sukkur Press Club when he complained of some pain in his chest. He was rushed to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where he died. Imtiaz Gorrar left behind a widow and three children.



3,400 patients brought to DG Khan hospital during Eid days

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Overeating during Eid holidays has made the district headquarters hospital overcrowded with patients.

According to the hospital data, the patients are mostly suffering from indigestion, vomiting and diarrhea. More than 3,400 patients were brought to the hospital during the Eid holidays. As many as 1,719 patients were treated at the emergency ward. Of them, 685 were admitted to the hospital while the rest of the patients were discharged after medication.

The officials said that around 50 per cent patients suffered indigestion due to overeating and they were treated with antibiotics. Similarly, 807 people, who were injured in different road accidents mostly due to overspeeding and racing on motorcycles, were shifted to the hospital trauma centre. Of them, 268 seriously injured patients were admitted to the hospital for surgery.



Two commit suicide in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two boys committed and a**ther attempted suicide in different incidents here. In the first incident, Zahid Ali of Chak 138/GB, Tarkhani, stabbed himself to death after exchanging hot words with his mother over a domestic dispute. In the second incident, an unidentified boy committed suicide by jumping into a canal near Chak 33/GB on Jaranwala Road. On information, a rescue team rushed to the spot and brought out the body from the canal. In the third incident, Aqeel Masih attempted self-immolation over a domestic dispute at Chak 251/GB. He was under treatment in a hospital.





Van conductor killed for refusing Rs50 entry fee

FAISALABAD: Two people allegedly killed a van conductor after he refused to pay Rs 50 entry fee at the van stand here. Muhammad Kashif of Gojra was allegedly stabbed to death by Zafar Sajjad and his accomplice when he refused to pay Rs 50 entry fee at the van stand. The accused managed to escape. Police have registered a murder case against the accused and started investigation.



Child abducted in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A four-year-old girl was abducted at Nighebanpura. Arooj Fatima and her three-year-old brother Nasir with their mother had come to the house of Abid Ali as guests. Arooj with her brother Nasir was going to a shop to purchase sweets when unidentified people abducted her. Police have registered a case and started investigation.



Zardari flays brutalities in held Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and senator Rehman Malik said the PPP had always devised the party strategy keeping in view the national interest and country’s future. The present government has to take further steps to root out terrorism from the country, Malik said this Friday during a meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari in London according to a press release issued here. During the meeting they discussed the overall political scenario of the country and situation created due to the Panama Leaks issue. On Kashmir, Zardari said the PPP has always raised this issue on all international forums and will continue to stand with Kashmiris in their difficult time. He also condemned the Indian army brutality in Held Kashmir.



Islamabad’s Sector I-14 main road
to be repaired in six months

Islamabad: The dilapidated road of Sector I-14 which links with sectors I-15 and I-16 would be repaired in six months. This road is mainly used by heavy traffic and dumpers due to which it got damaged an official of Capital Development Authority (CDA), told APP on Friday. The authority has planned its rehabilitation during current financial year 2016-17, he added. He said the work will be taken up and completed within six months subject to availability of funds and fulfilment of formalities. Residents of sectors I-15 and I-16 had complained regarding dilapidated condition of the road.

Maximum temperatures recorded on Friday remained Shaheed Benazirabad and Dalbandin 42C, **kkundi 41C, Multan and Hyderabad 38C, Peshawar and Faisalabad 37C, Lahore 36C, Islamabad and Karachi 35C, Quetta and Muzaffarabad 33C, Dir and Kalat Chitral 30C, Gilgit 29C, Hunza 26C, Skardu 24C and Murree 23C.



Minister to welcome first Haj flight today

Islamabad: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazl Chaudhry would welcome the arrival of government scheme’s first Haj flight at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Saturday night (September 17). According to spokesman of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony the Air Blue’s flight **.PA 2767 carrying 218 pilgrims is scheduled to reach Islamabad at 2045 hours on Saturday. Dr Tariq will felicitate the Hujjaj on performing the sacred religious obligation, said a press release.



Imran fighting for rule of law: Sarwar

LAHORE: Former gover**r of Punjab and Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said Imran Khan is fighting for the rule of law and supremacy of Constitution. It is beyond any doubt that Pakistan won’t progress without effective justice system in country. He stated this while talking to the PTI Khanewal District President Pir Zahoor Hussain Qureshi at his residence in Mian Channu on Friday. He said the opposition parties would have to support PTI against corruption and bad governance in the best interest of the country. He alleged that the government wanted propagation of corruption and commission culture instead of eradication of corruption and beginning of a comprehensive accountability in the country. Had government made efforts for eradication of corruption it would have formed inquiry commission on Panama Leaks and there would have been ** agitation and protests. Protesting for basic rights is the essential element of democracy, he said, adding that the government should start free and fair accountability instead of making lame excuses.
