It's official: Samsung's finally recalling (http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2016/Samsung-Recalls-Galaxy-**te7-Smartphones/) its Galaxy **te7 (http://mashable.com/2016/08/16/samsung-galaxy-**te7-review/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial).
The recall comes a week after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) an**unced (http://mashable.com/2016/09/09/cpsc-samsung-galaxy-**te-7-recall/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) the Korean electronics giant was working with it on an official recall and advised **te7 owners to turn their devices off and stop charging them.
The recall affects phones sold prior to Sept. 15. The CPSC is advising **te7 owners to locate their device's IMEI number on the back of the phone or packaging and enter it online in Samsung's IMEI checker (http://www.samsung.com/us/**te7recall/) to see if their device is affected.
The CPSC recommends **te7 owners "contact the wireless carrier, retail outlet or Samsung.com where you purchased your device to receive free of charge a new Galaxy **te7 with a different battery, a refund or a new replacement device.
