Say country to be ridden of extremism; greet nation as
Eidul Azha being celebrated across Pakistan today

ISLAMABAD: President Mam**on Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in their separate messages on the occasion of Eidul Azha said on Monday that the sacrifices rendered by the people of Indian-Held Kashmir (IHK) would be successful and it was must to get rid of extremism.

Both the leaders extended heartiest congratulations to the nation and the people of Kashmir on the joyous occasion of Eidul Azha.

The president in his message prayed that Allah Almighty may protect all the countrymen and bless them with the bounties of this world and hereafter.

He said the day rejuvenated the dignified sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who had set an eternal example of obedience and submission to Allah Almighty by offering the sacrifice of his beloved son Hazrat Ismael (AS).

The president said Allah Almighty afterwards made this sacrifice a mandatory act for affluent Muslims who follow this practice in pursuance of Allah’s commandment. “We also need to set practical examples of sacrifice in our lives because this spirit helps resolve the issues effectively,” he added.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, dedicating this year’s Eidul Azha to the endless sacrifices of Kashmiris, pledged to dedicate all the coming Eids to the people of Kashmir till the resolution of the dispute in accordance with their wishes.

“On this day of Eid, we can**t forget the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir. The people of Kashmir facing the Indian atrocities have sacrificed their third generation to achieve their right of self-determination.

“We dedicate this Eid to the endless sacrifices of Kashmiri people and will continue to dedicate all coming Eids to the Kashmiris till the issue of Kashmir is resolved in accordance with their wishes,” the prime minister said in his message on the occasion of Eidul Azha being observed in the country on Tuesday (September 13).

He said Eidul Azha was a remembrance of the submission of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and the obedience and acceptance of Hazrat Ismail (AS). The family of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) sacrificed every worldly relation for the pleasure of their Cherisher and preferred the will of Allah Almighty on every occasion, he said adding its peak point was the sacrifice of son. Allah Almighty accepted this act of father and son in a way that it was made part of Haj rituals and the Muslim society was made obliged to keep this tradition alive, he added.

The prime minister said Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) through his conduct told the world that sacrifice was the name of dedicating ourselves for the supreme human objectives. The sacrifice of individuals keeps the society and nation alive. This is the lesson which is given through sacrifice, he remarked.

He said there was a need to recall that esson of oneness and sacrifice which Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) gave to think over how to unite this nation and sacrifice for the national objectives. Pakistan today with the grace and blessings of Allah Almighty has been put on the path of prosperity. “We have to take it to its destination,” he added.

He, however, said today we have a question before us as if we can sacrifice our ego and interests for the sake of Pakistan. On the occasion of this Eid, we have to give a message of unity to the whole nation. By keeping the tradition of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), we have to sacrifice for others.

The prime minister said sacrifice gives us this lesson that we on this cheerful occasion should **t forget the under-privileged sections of the society. We have to get their participation in our pleasures. We have to get ourselves off from the extremist attitudes by keeping ourselves above the personal and factional interests and divert our spirit of sacrifice towards the progress and solidarity of the country, the nation and the Islamic world. This is what the basis of Islamic teachings is, he added.

He said in fact if we dedicate our spirit of selflessness and sacrifice to the right objectives, then harmony, tolerance, love, patience and moderation will become part of our daily life matters in the dear country. And our society will turn into an Islamic society in true meanings.

The prime minister extended hearty felicitations to all the Muslims residing in Pakistan and in the whole world, particularly the Kashmiri people, and thanked Allah Almighty Who once again blessed them with this felicitous occasion. He prayed that the nation continued to embrace such happy occasions in their lives repeatedly.

“I pray that Allah Almighty bless all of us with real pleasures of Eidul Azha and enable us to understand and perform this great reverence of sacrifice in its true spirit,” the prime minister added.
