PML-N stages protest outside KP Assembly, hoists party flag

PESHAWAR: Activists of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday staged a protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly to condemn the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s an**uncement to stage a protest sit-in in Raiwand. The angry PML-N workers stormed the KP Assembly’s gate and hoisted the party flag over it. It triggered a serious reaction from the PTI leadership. The PML-N activists were led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly lawmakers Arbab Wasim, Arbab Khizar Hayat and others. The protesters were holding party flags, banners and placards inscribed with anti-PTI and anti-Imran Khan slogans. The speakers on the occasion blasted the PTI leadership for what they called its childish attitude and naive politics. They claimed that the PTI was damaging the political environment of the country and earning a bad name for democracy. They pointed out that the tradition of going to the houses of political leaders to stage protests would leave negative effects on the political and democratic system. “This will set a bad precedent and in future ** government will be able to complete its tenure,” said Wasim. The PML-N leaders threatened to launch a protest campaign against the PTI and its provincial government if Imran Khan did **t withdraw his call of march on Raiwand. Heavy contingent of police had been deployed on Sunday to ensure security of the assembly’s premises. Meanwhile, PTI leaders condemned the incident and termed it part of the ruling PMLN tactics to browbeat the PTI. The KP government spokesman, Mushtaq Ghani, argued that the PML-N had in the past stormed the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
