KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar was severely injured in a road accident that left his vehicle "completely destroyed" on Super Highway, a party leader told Geo News on late Sunday night.
"He is being moved to a hospital in Karachi, his condition is out of danger," Khawaja Izharul Hassan, a senior leader of the MQM told Geo News by telephone.
The incident occurred near **oriabad on the Super Highway when the MQM leader was returning from Hyderabad along with his comrades and security guards.
"The vehicle rolled over several times after crashing into barriers that were left on the road for construction," Izharul Hassan said. The car in which Farooq Sattar and his associates as well as guards were traveling, was bulletproof.
"Farooq bhai is safe, he has sustained injuries to his head, back and shoulder," he said, adding that four other people travelling with the MQM leader were injured. "A police guard is in critical condition, he has been moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital" he said.
Khawaja Izharul Hassan disclosed that Farooq Sattar had suffered internal injuries from the accident and would be taken to the hospital for his X-ray scan.
Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, expressed his concern regarding the safety of Dr Farooq Sattar and prayed for his speedy recovery.
