ISLAMABAD: The Foreign ****** on Saturday said Pakistan had constantly provided access to Afghanistan to Pakistani ports for transit trade.
Talking to the INP, the Foreign ****** Spokesman, Nafees Zakaria, said Pakistan will continue to facilitate the Afghan transit trade as part of its commitment to the Afghan people.
To a query, he said though the bilateral transit trade agreement, APTTA, does **t involve transit to and from India, Pakistan continues to allow transit of Afghan fruit to India through Wagah as a special gesture.
He said Pakistan had **t blocked the Afghan transit access to Pakistani ports. However, he said the Chaman border was closed from August 19 to 31, as some miscreants on the Afghan side had burnt the Pakistani flag.
The border was opened after the two sides mutually worked out measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future, he added.
