ISLAMABAD: Top officials have confirmed that visa applications of all Indian citizens in each and every case are always cleared by the elite intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The officials confirmed on authority that all such Indians whose visas are cleared by the ISI remain under strict monitoring during their stay in Pakistan. Top officials representing different important institutions also confirmed to The News that Indian experts in different fields are allowed to enter and provide their services in Pakistan after their strict scrutiny and such experts provide services to different industries of various business groups. These groups also include the business concerns controlled directly or indirectly by Pakistani institutions.
Experts believe that if any Indian citizens have technical expertise and they provide their
services on cheaper rates, there is ** harm in using their skills by the local businesses. Experts say that there is ** legal bar on taking assistance from Indian citizens and Pakistan has a huge volume of trade with India.
Experts also believe that if **w using expertise of Indians has to be made a touchstone of evaluating any person’s patriotism, this so-called principle should be applied across the board and all those business concerns, even if owned by any institutions, should be dealt with under the same principle.
Experts say that if the principle of terming those traitors who have ever taken assistance from experts from India has to be adopted, then any business concerns which had ever taken direct or indirect assistance from any Indian citizen should be closed along with all other businesses of such groups even if owned by any institutions.
Such groups should also never be allowed to run any other businesses. In addition to businesses run by institutions, country’s leading businessman Jehangir Khan Tareen is on record of hiring services of Indians for his businesses. In the on-going August-**vember campaign against the sitting government, an individual made certain allegations against Pakistanis of being India RAW agents. He also presented a list of 50 Indians who were issued Pakistan visa after clearance from the ISI.
Senior analyst air marshal Shehzad Chaudhry (retd), while talking in a Geo News program, said that Pakistan has a regulated trade of $5 billion with India and Indian products of value almost double of regulated trade are imported in Pakistan through Dubai. He said that different countries including India manufacture turbines for the sugar mills and majority of sugar mills in Pakistan purchase cheap Indian turbines and also take assistance from Indian experts. He said that levelling allegations on such grounds is ridiculous and must **t be given any importance.
Experts say that if Indians have **t wasted their time in futile things and have excelled technically in different fields, there is ** other way except for taking their assistance and hiring their comparatively cheaper services in different industries in Pakistan. Experts say that only those are criticising who have pushed Pakistan to the present state of affairs where the country lacks experts in almost every field or industry.
Senior anchors and commentators, Salim Safi and Babar Sattar were of the view that Qadri should **t be taken seriously as Pakistan had many other pressing issues. Analyst Mazhar Abbas said that Qadri should be taken in protective custody as he had accused country’s prime minister of being an India agent, and the agencies should launch a probe.
Analyst Imtiaz Alam said that our politics had strange ways. It is history that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who gave Pakistan a nuclear programme and whose national security policy was still in vogue was called a traitor. Then Benazir Bhutto was termed a security risk, and **w Nawaz Sharif, who is into third tenure as PM, is being called a traitor. This trend should come to an end, he added.
