KARACHI: According to u**fficial results, the Pakistan Peoples Party candidate secured the lead in the PS-127 by-elections, while MQM came in second.
Vote count was underway as polling for by-election in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-127 ended amid reports of clashes between contesting parties.
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also elated at the an**uncement of the u**fficial result, as he took to micro-blogging site Twitter to proclaim his happiness.

Earlier during the day, clashes broke out among workers of contesting political parties. According to Geo News, activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Muhajir Qaumi Movement (MQM), Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People's Party clashed in different parts of Karachi.
The seat had fallen vacant due to resignation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPA Ashfaq Mangi after he joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
The polling began at 8:00 A.M and continued till 5:00 P.M without any interruption. Two people sustained injuries after unk**wn gunmen opened fired near the camp of a political party outside a polling station in Khokhrapar.
Paramilitary troops intervened to overcome the situation. The injured were shifted to a hospital with mi**r injuries, rescue officials said.

Over 116 from 134 polling stations were declared very sensitive. Rangers were deployed in and outside the polling stations.
The Sindh government declared September 8 as holiday in the constituency to facilitate the voters to cast their votes in the by-election.
