Minister says agencies should **t be held responsible for all ills
ISLAMABAD: Legislators in the Senate on Wednesday asked when the nexus of banned organisations and some state institutions would be broken. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, however, said agencies should **t be held responsible for all the ills.
Senators said ** evidence of nexus of corruption and terrorism had been found, but there were proof of nexus of banned organisations and some state institutions.
The senators called on the government to stop mere rhetoric of ‘involvement of foreign agencies’ in terrorist hits inside Pakistan and instead gear up efforts to bar the foreign spy agencies such as Indian RAW, Afghanistan’s NDS and Israeli Mossad from carrying out their diabolical agendas.
PPP’s Farhatullah Babar, during the debate on recent terrorist attacks in Quetta, Mardan and Warsak, claimed that a nexus between certain banned outfits and some state agencies still existed, alleging that the nexus between the two sides was ** more a secret.
The senators wanted the government to end what they called the blame game and seriously concentrate on exposing the foreign spy agencies engaged in terrorist activities in Pakistan. The members of the Upper House from Balochistan said that VVIP visits soon after the suicide blast in Quetta was one of the reasons a good number of injured died as attention was **t paid to them by the doctors.
“The VVIP visits to Quetta soon after the blast resulted in more casualties as doctors could **t give first aid to the injured as they remained busy in facilitating the VVIPs,” said Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini, a Baloch Senator of BNP-Mengal, who lost his son in the Quetta carnage.
Farhatullah Babar questioned the policy of skirting the real issues and shifting the focus to the so-called nexus between corruption and militancy. He said that it was important to expose and punish the nexus between corruption and militancy, and added that it was far more important, indeed crucial, to break the nexus between some militant outfits and the state agencies.
“The nexus between militants and the state agencies is ** longer a secret. It has been exposed repeatedly, most recently by the revelation that Mulla Akhtar Mansour **t only lived in Pakistan under cover but also possessed Pakistan’s national identity card and passport,” he went on to allege.
Babar wondered, “How one can deny the existence of this unholy nexus when banned militant outfits hold rallies in the federal capital and collect donations for dubious causes and the state agencies look the other way.”
He claimed border management was a**ther name for continuing the policy of strategic depth and subjugating Afghanistan and warned against its serious repercussions. The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) senators also criticised the government.
Those who took part in the debate included Senator Abdul Qayyum of the PML-N, Mir Kabeer of the National Party, Daud Achakzai of the Awami National Party and JUI-Fazl’s Hafiz Hamdullah.
