APHC condemns killing spree by India, leaders refuse to meet all party delegation
SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the situation remained grim and tense on Sunday, 57 days after the killing on July 9 a Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzzaffar Wani by the Indian troops.
Over 250 people were injured in firing of pellets and bullets by Indian troops on protesters in Shopian on Sunday. Women were also included in the injured persons. Agitated people set newly-built DC ****** on fire. The personnel of Indian police and paramilitary forces used brute force on participants of a pro-freedom rally in Penjoora village of Shopian. Forces used heavy tear ***** shells and indiscriminate pellets on protesters, injuring over 100 people, many of them critically. Intense clashes erupted in the Vessu village of Qazigund town.
On the other hand, several persons were injured in Islamabad district after the Indian armed forces used force on an anti-India and pro freedom rally in Fatapora Larkipora. Reports about rallies and forceful anti-India protests are coming from other areas as well.
Some 15 persons were injured and many arrested as government forces tried to foil a freedom rally in the Drubgam area of Pulwama district. The forces vandalised the venue of a proposed rally and beat whosoever came in their way.
Later, men in uniform went berserk and smashed windowpanes of houses and ransacked households. They also arrested many people from the area. Scores of people were injured, two of them seriously, during clashes between protesters and armed forces in the Aripanthan village of Badgam district on Sunday.
Thousands of people attended a pro-freedom rally in Kunan village of Kupwara. People from Trehgam Kupwara Poshpora and other adjacent areas joined the rally which was on way to Kunan till last reports came in. The house of a so-called MLA from Tral Mushtaq Shah was attacked with stones by protesters during clashes Sunday. People from villages of Tral in Pulwama defied curfew and moved towards Eidgah in the town. Indian police arrested Hurriyat leader Masroor Abass Ansari outside his house as he tried to march towards the Srinagar airport, as part of joint resistance programme.
Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyet Conference has said the Indian forces had used brute force to muzzle the voice of Kashmiris for their inalienable right to self-determination. According to Kashmir media, the APHC in a statement said killing of Danish Sultan, injuring about 300 people and arresting more than 2,000 speaks volumes of the foolproof arrangements made for the visit of Indian parliamentary delegation, as if they are from a different planet where the cries and sorrows of Kashmiris do **t reach.
The APHC reiterated its resolve that India would have to give right to self determination to people and leave this place sooner or later because ** force on earth could hold a population hostage just for their ego.
Referring to demolition of Makkah Market at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, the APHC said so-called PDP MLA along with police forced representatives of this market to open a few shops to just give the impression of **rmalcy and when the shopkeepers refused to budge, the said politician with the help of police muscle and vandalism razed the whole market to ground. Condemning the police action against journalists and photographers at Batamaloo, the Hurriyet said police vandalism was crossing all limits with each passing day.
Commenting on the arrest of Shah Wali, the statement said arresting an 80-year-old physically fragile worker and an ailing senior citizen of Sopore exposes democracy being practiced in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 70 years.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) leaders have said the conglomerate leaders will **t meet the All Party delegation which arrived in Kashmir on Sunday. It is an exercise in futility. The Hurriyat believes that the most peaceful and democratic way of resolving the Kashmir issue is to give the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right of self determination that they have been promised or alternately hold an unconditional and meaningful engagement among the three stakeholders to the dispute — India, Pakistan and the people of J&K — and resolve it in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of people of Kashmir, spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) quoting Maulana Ansari said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Hurriyat Conference (M) leaders visited the residence of the slain 12-year-old boy Danish Sultan at Palpora here to express sympathy with his family. The delegation comprised Masroor GN Zaki and other leaders and activists.
Addressing the condolence meeting and a peaceful protest march, Ansari appealed to the people to follow the protest calendar given by unified resistance leadership.
Condemning arrest spree of youth and children, GN Zaki said such suppressive tactics will **t bring the government of India its desired results. Hurriyat spokesman said so far in the current agitation, around 2,000 persons have been arrested, 600 more held in detention, 109 booked under the Public Safety Act.
On the other hand, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) has condemned the killing spree by the Indian forces, saying dance of death seems to have ** end in sight in Kashmir even after about two months. Killing of Danish Sultan at Palpora Srinagar, injuring about 300 people and arresting more than 2,000 speak volumes of foolproof arrangements made for the visit of Indian delegation coming for assessing the situation, as if they are from a planet where the cries of Kashmiris do **t reach.
Dance of death seems to have ** end even after about two months as the forces have always muzzled the genuine voice of Kashmiris for the last 70 years and are repeating the same even today, Hurriyat (G) spokesman said in a statement.Condemning what it termed the cold-blooded murder of Danish Sultan, the spokesman said India has to leave this place sooner or later because.
Condemning police action against journalists and photographers at Batamaloo, the spokesman said police vandalism is crossing all limits with each passing day and administration is just patting them for these anti-people actions.
Hurriyat has taken a serious **te of the reports where an ambulance carrying some doctors was stopped at Baghat-i-Kanipora by some youth and humiliated. Hurriyat clarified again that during relaxations some youth try to disrupt joint resistance program thereby, playing in the hands of those who want to fizzle the present uprising out. People, especially youth, are requested to keep an eye on such violations as our cunning enemy uses these issues against us, he said.
The spokesperson condemned arrest of district president Shah Wali Muhammad of Seelu and Taha Indrabi, brother of DeM chief Aasiya Andrabi, terming it an act of political reprisal.Hurriyat appealed to people especially in and around Airport Road to make the resistance program a success. Play freedom songs and hold protests along the road and wherever the members of the delegation go, receive them with slogans “Go India, Go Back” and “We want Freedom”, the spokesman said.
