Asks gover**r to settle issue after hearing both parties
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Friday disposed of two similar petitions against alleged illegal acts of Punjab University’s acting vice-chancellor and sent the matter to gover**r.
The chief justice directed the gover**r to decide the matter in accordance with the law after affording ample opportunity of hearing both the petitioners and the university.
Punjab University College of Information Tech**logy’s principal Mansoor Sarwar and a**ther had filed the petitions. They argued through their counsel that Dr Mujahid Kamran being acting vice-chancellor of the PU had been acting beyond his powers, adding that acting VC was likely to preside syndicate meeting unlawfully.
The university’s counsel argued that the gover**r being chancellor issued a **tification to convene the syndicate meeting.
He said the acting VC had been exercising his powers in light of the chancellor’s direction.
Chief Justice while disposing of the petitions directed the gover**r to decide the matter after hearing all parties.
