SHO asked to proceed against Altaf, others

OKARA: Additional Sessions Judge Akleem Raza has ordered the City A-Division SHO to proceed against MQM chief Altaf Hussain and 157 others according to the law. He issued the order on a petition filed by Rana Fida Mohiuddin advocate, seeking registration of a case against Altaf Hussain, Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Dr Amir Liaqat, Khalid Maqbool Siddique, Amir Khan and others. The judge ordered the SHO to proceed against the respondents under the PPC after recording statement of the petitioner. In his petition, Rana Fida said that the accused created the law and order situation after the hate speech of Altaf Hussain. He said that the accused also damaged some media houses in Karachi.



Female student dies in accident

CHAKWAL: A student of 7-grade died when a bus hit her in Takia Shah Murad village of Dumhan police station on Thursday.Muneeba, 12, daughter of labourer Safdar was on its way to school in a rickshaw, when a speeding school bus hit the rickshaw. As a result, Muneeba fell down on the road and was run over by the bus and died on the spot.



Alleged target killer arrested in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcement agencies conducted a raid on the house of Afsar Ali Bandhani, a relative of MQM MPA Salim Bandhani, at the New Pind in Sukkur and arrested an alleged target killer in the limits of A-Section Police Station. The accuse Atiq Ahmed Bandhani is the resident of Liaquatabad, Karachi, and is an employee in the KMC. The law enforcement agencies have shifted him to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.



CBI files charges against Dawood Ibrahim

LAHORE: India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against India’s most wanted criminal and underground don, Dawood Ibrahim. According to an Indian news channel, letters rogatory have been sent to United Arab Emirates (UAE) and United Kingdom (UK). This is the second chargesheet filed by CBI after National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a supplementary chargesheet against Dawood on August 22. The development has come almost a week after when the United States confirmed six residences in Pakistan to be Dawood residences, out of the nine listed in a dossier sent by India to the US to confirm the same.

Census impossible without army’s help: official

ISLAMABAD: Chief Census Commissioner Asif Bajwa on Thursday said conducting population census was impossible without army’s help and the process had been delayed because troops were are engaged in Operation Zarb-e-Azb in **rth Waziristan. Speaking to reporters, he said the army personnel’s availability would be confirmed in **vember or December, adding that census was expected to be held in March or April next year. He said Rs1.90 billion out of the allocated budget of Rs14 billion for census had been released. Around 205,000 workers were required for census across Pakistan, he added.

Ayyan ordered to approach ATC

RAWALPINDI: Local court of Rawalpindi has directed model Ayyan Ali to approach anti-terrorism court in Customs inspector murder case. Rawalpindi area magistrate Gulfam Latif Butt took up the case for hearing over Ayyan Ali plea in Customs inspector Ejaz Chaudhry murder case Thursday.Ayyan appeared in the court. Counsel for the model took the plea that Supreme Court had suspended arrest warrants for his client Ayyan. Time is being wasted in this case. Interior minister should devote his energies to the investigation into Panama Leaks and Quetta tragedy, he added. Prosecutor said terrorism provision has been included in the case. The court directed Ayyan to approach anti-terrorism court for further proceeding in the plea.



NA meets today

ISLAMABAD: The president has summoned session of the National Assembly (NA) today (September 2) at 11.00 am at the Parliament House.The president has summoned the National Assembly session in exercise of powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution.The National Assembly will initiate debate on the recommendations finalised by an exclusive Fata Reforms Committee to discuss future of the region.



Seven suspected terrorists

arrested in Turbat search operation

TURBAT: Security forces arrested seven suspected militants during a search operation in different areas of Turbat on Thursday. According to a FC spokesperson, search operation was conducted on a tip-off in the areas adjacent to the Turbat city, adding that the suspects belonged to an outlawed organisation, while ******* were also recovered from their possession.
