KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department on Wednesday, while accommodating the request made by the Sindh Police chief AD Khowaja, formed a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) to grill the leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Waseem Akhtar. A **tification in this regard was also issued.
As per the **tification: “On the recommendations of the additional inspector general of police Crime Branch, conveyed him through the Inspector General of Police Sindh vide letter dated July-29, 2016, a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) is hereby constituted for the purpose of interrogation in respect of arrested accused Waseem Akhtar, leader of the MQM-A who has been arrested on July 27, 2016 in cases of Malir City and a**ther FIR at Sachal Police Stations, Karachi.
"The Joint Interrogation Team shall comprise the following Law Enforcing Agencies headed by the SSP to be **minated by the Inspector General of Police Sindh Karachi. Representative of ISI **t below the rank of Major, Representative of 202 Survey (MI) **t below the rank of Major, Representative of IB Sindh of the equivalent rank of SP, Representative of Special Branch Sindh **t below the rank of SP and Representative of CTD **t below the rank of SP.
"The focus and aspects and framework **tified under Home Department’s order **. SO (LE-l) 3-16/2001 dated **vember-6, 2001 shall strictly be adhered to. The JIT should investigate the matter in seven days and submit report to this department within two days from the date of completion of investigation."
