Kiln workers continue hunger strike for fixed wages

TOBA TEK SINGH: The hunger strike of brick kiln workers against **n-payment of government fixed wages entered the second day at Shahbaz Chowk on Tuesday.
Addressing the protesters, the labour leaders, including Muhammad Shabbir, alleged that the district labour ******r was supporting the kiln owners. They said that the district administration and the DLO would be responsible if any protester died during the hunger strike.
Meanwhile, in a statement, DLO Saeed Dhillon refuted the allegations leveled by the kiln workers. He said that he was taking action against those kiln owners, who were **t paying the fixed wages to the workers. He said that he had so far challaned more than one dozen kiln owners for **t paying Rs 1,036 per 1,000 bricks wages to the workers.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Kiln Owners Association was held here. Speaking on the occasion, Ikram Hafeez, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Yasin and Zeeshan Randhawa alleged that the labour leaders were blackmailing them for their vested interests and they had **thing to do with demands of the workers. They claimed that the kiln owners of Toba Tek Singh were paying highest wages to the workers in Faisalabad division. They claimed that the labour leaders, who were observing hunger strike, were **t the kiln workers.
