ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Sunday there was ** proposal under consideration to ban the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Speaking in the Geo News programme “Naya Pakistan”, Pervaiz Rashid said the experiment of banning political parties in the past was unsuccessful.“We conducted experiments of banning political parties in the past but these could **t yield significant results,” he said, adding that there was ** need to repeat such mistakes.

“We must admit that the MQM leader Farooq Sattar took a step in the right direction after making the right decision,” the minister said and urged him to support the Sindh government in action against the miscreants.

He said Nawaz had rebuilt and strengthened the national institutions after coming into power.He said when the PML-N government assumed power, all the institutions were in a poor shape while the eco**my was in shambles. He said the masses had paid record tax during the last three years reflecting their trust in the government, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people did **t pay taxes.

The minister said false allegations of Imran Khan will sink in Jhelum River in Tuesday’s by-election.Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Law Murtaza Wahab and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Arif Alvi have also opposed the idea of banning the MQM.

Murtaza Wahab said the MQM was a political reality and putting a ban on it would **t resolve the issue.Saba adds: Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Sunday said he did **t want the newly-elected Karachi mayor to run the city from behind the bars.

Addressing the media in Sukkur at the DCO ******, he said the new Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar should obtain should obtain bail from the government, as it did **t look good for the mayor to be running the city from the prison.

On MQM’s disassociation from Altaf Hussain, the opposition leader said any association or disassociation can**t remain hidden. Khursheed Shah said Dr Farooq Sattar’s link with the MQM chief Altaf Hussain would be exposed in 10 days.

He said Pakistan’s weak foreign policy was to blame for poor relations with the neighboring countries. Khursheed said the mayor of Pakistan’s biggest city being in jail was **t a good sign adding that on the one hand India was lobbying against Pakistan, on the other there was MQM chief and Brahamdagh Bugti while the PPP chanted the slogan of Pakistan Khapay at the time of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto.

He said the MQM’s indifference to Altaf Hussain was a good sign but it will **t remain hidden. “We will wait for 10 to 12 days after which everything will become clear.” He said the PPP always implemented the reconciliation policy. “We will have to resolve the issues of Pakistan jointly.”

“We have an**unced to take to streets and will tell everyone about the failures of the government. The foreign policy is extremely weak due to which the friends are being considered enemy.” Talking about health facilities, he said Sukkur hospitals lack 67 doctors and soon over 60 male and female nurses and paramedics will be appointed.
