ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday observed that if the present worst condition of corruption in the country was **t timely checked, people would be compelled to take extreme steps and this would never be in favour of solidarity of the country.

This was stated in a detailed decision of the Supreme Court on a bail application in a case moved by the NAB against “Embezzlement of billions of rupees to the national exchequer”. The SC decision said that people of all sections of life are frontliners in raising their voice against corruption but unfortunately majority of them were **t acting and following the principle of self-accountability.

The Supreme Court observed this while rejecting the bail application of Imran Mohsin, the owner of Mohsin Brothers in a case of embezzlement in 400 trucks of urea fertilizers. The three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam and comprising Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, heard the case. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan wrote the decision.

The court observed that it had become necessary for the courts to devise some basic principles to deal with such financial crimes. The court said that the present state of corruption had perturbed the nation and it was necessary to equip all the anti-corruption departments, particularly NAB, active in this field with the latest basic training.

The SC bench urged the Special Courts to closely study and review the laws and rules regarding accountability and play their role in purging all the departments of the country from the cancer of corruption and if it was **t timely controlled, it will damage the foundations of the country. The SC bench rejected the bail application of the accused, Imran Mohsin, in this case.
