Four alleged kidnappers held in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The security forces arrested four alleged kidnappers during a search operation at various areas in Tangi tehsil on Tuesday, official sources said. They said the security forces conducted search operations in various areas in Tangi tehsil and arrested alleged abductors identified as Bacha Hussain, Saddam Hussain, Momin Khan and Ali Akbar. The law-enforcers shifted the held persons to an undisclosed location for interrogation.



Govt asked to merge Fata into KP

CHARSADDA: The police arrested a suspected militant associated with the outlawed militant group, Lashkar-e-Islam, at a checkpoint in Kala Dher village here on Monday, an official said. Station House ******r Imran Khan said the police arrested Ahmadullah at a roadside checkpoint in Kala Dher.



Saarc FMs conference begins in Islamabad today

ISLAMABAD: The two day Saarc Finance Ministers conference will begin in Islamabad today (Thursday) to discuss cooperation in different sectors of eco**my. The meeting is also expected to discuss the South Asia Free Trade Agreement and devise a mechanism for promotion of regional trade. It will discuss ways and means to expanding trade and investment in the region and operation of Saarc Development Fund for infrastructure development. It will also review implementation of decisions taken during the seventh Finance Ministers meeting in Nepal.



Woman commits suicide in Swat

MINGORA: A woman committed suicide by consuming poiso**us pills at Kabal tehsil in Swat district on Wednesday, official sources said. They said that Shamim Bibi ended her life by taking the pills over a domestic issue at Shalhand in Kabal area.



Six militants’ facilitators held

HANGU: The security forces arrested six alleged facilitators of the militants during a combing operation in Thall tehsil on Monday, official sources said. They said that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the arrested men. The accused were taken to an undisclosed location.



15 arrested in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The police arrested 11 Afghan nationals and four proclaimed offenders (POs) during search operations in various areas on Tuesday, official sources said. The police shifted the held persons to the police station concerned where further investigation was underway.



Two killed in Kohat clash

KOHAT: Two persons were killed when two groups traded fire over a petty issue in Muhammadzai area on Tuesday night, official sources said.They said that two groups headed by Habib Shah and Muhammad Sajjad exchanged hot words and resorted to open fire in the limits of the Cantonment Police Station. As a result, Habib Shah and Muhammad Sajjad were killed on the spot. The bodies, after an autopsy in the Kohat Development Authority (KDA) Hospital, were handed over to the families for burial. The police **minated Mir Zali, Fairoz, Rahim Shah and Said Alam from both groups in the case and started investigation.



Seven more dengue cases surface in Malakand

BATKHELA: Seven more cases of dengue virus surfaced here on Tuesday despite efforts by the health authorities to control the disease.Dr Tanveer, focal person for Dengue Control Programme in the area, told reporters that the total number of patients infected with dengue virus had climbed to 50 as seven more patients were confirmed on Tuesday.He said that health department was taking steps to control the virus in the area. He added that fumigation teams of health department were visiting various areas in the district in this regard.He hoped that the disease would be controlled soon.



Eight injured in Swat road accident

MINGORA: Eight persons sustained injuries in a road accident in Khawazakhela area in Swat district on Tuesday, official sources said.They said that a pickup-truck was on its way in Chatalai area in Khawazakhela when the driver lost control over steering wheel and the vehicle plunged into a ravine. As a result, eight persons sustained injuries.The injured, whose identity could **t be established, were shifted to a hospital in Khawazakhela where their condition was stated to be stable.
