That’s what I wrote (http://lanceula**ff.tumblr.com/post/9354545767/steve-jobs-a-legend-moves-on) five years ago this Wednesday when Apple (http://mashable.com/category/apple/) co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs (http://mashable.com/category/steve-jobs/), then in ill health, reluctantly stepped down as and handed over the reins to COO Tim Cook (http://mashable.com/category/tim-cook/). It was Aug. 24, 2011.*
Cook was largely unk**wn to the public until 2009, when he temporarily replaced Steve Jobs (http://mashable.com/2011/01/17/steve-jobs-leave-of-absence-2/) as chief executive. ** one expected big changes back then. Jobs returned to the helm in six months (http://mashable.com/2009/06/20/steve-jobs-return/) and in 2010 delivered the first iPad (http://mashable.com/2010/01/27/apple-ipad/).
