PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers of an Afghan cleric and his father were offered here on Saturday and their bodies were transported to Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan for burial.
“Sheikh Ghulam Hazrat and his father Sheikh Khwaja Muhammad Hazrat were attacked by unk**wn gunmen on Phandu Road yesterday after**on,” stated Ihsanullah, a pupil of the slain religious scholar, while speaking to the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
The funeral of the deceased was offered in Peshawar on Saturday morning. The deceased hailed from Nangarhar’s Pacheer Agam district and had good relations with the Afghan Taliban. Sources told AIP that the Taliban used to consult him for fatwa on religious issues.
