Demo against police failure to recover abductee

TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of relatives of an allegedly kidnapped matriculation student staged a demonstration against City police for their alleged failure to recover him here on Saturday.
The protesters belonging to Chak 324/JB, Paira, blocked different roads for an hour to register their protest. They were chanting slogans against the police. They were also carrying placards and banners. They demanded immediate recovery of the abducted boy.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Iftikhar said that his son, a matric student, went to the school on August 18 but did **t return home. He said that he went to the police station on the same day and gave an application for registration of an abduction case but the policemen allegedly demanded bribe from him. He said that he received a call on Friday and a caller told him that his son had been abducted by unidentified kidnappers from the graveyard of Chak 329/GB near Shorkot Cantonment.
In the meantime, police high-ups reached the spot and held talks with the protesters. They assured them of soon recovering the student. They also assured them of initiating an inquiry against those policemen, who allegedly demanded bribe from the abductee’s father. When contacted, City SHO Muhammad Farooq denied the allegation of demanding bribe. He said that when the complainant informed the police about the presence of the boy in a Shorkot Cantonment village, police parties from Chuttiana and Toba City police stations reached there but did **t find the abductee.
