ISLAMABAD: Ex-prime minister of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s president of Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry issued a whitepaper on Friday to substantiate his charge that the recently-held polls in the region were massively rigged.
He told media persons here that the whitepaper also carried a **tification wherein ‘evidence’ was provided about distribution of funds for various schemes in the run up to the Legislative Assembly election.
Mehmood also presented newspaper cuttings to prove that the federal government had an**unced Rs50 billion packages for AJK before elections. He regretted holding a news conference on alleged rigging in AJK polls, whereas in the past, he used to prove rigging in Indian Held Kashmir elections.
As per the **tification, instead of the Local Government department, a cell was established in the Kashmir Council where a close friend of Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs was appointed for rigging in the election. “I have written a letter to the Army Chief, with which a copy of the whitepaper has also been attached, requesting him for investigation into the polls rigging, which will negatively impact the ongoing freedom movement in Occupied Kashmir,” Mehmood contended.
He called for conducting the election afresh, as the inspector general of police and the chief secretary were appointed from the federal government. He added a person was made chief election commissioner, who was already the chief justice of AJK High Court. “It is imperative that next polls must be held simultaneously with the electoral exercise in Pakistan to minimise the chances of rigging,” he emphasised.
Mehmood alleged that before the election, the National Database and Registration Authority deleted 15000 voters from each constituency and then on the desire of PML-N candidates, a**ther 10000 were added in each constituency.
“All this exercise was carried out to shift attention from the rocking PanamaLeaks revelations about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif family,” he claimed.A video was also shown to the media about confession of a PML-N candidate of having received Rs20 million from the Kashmir Council funds.
