LANDIKOTAL: A number of Khugakhel tribespeople residing in the Bacha Mina area near the Pak-Afghan border on Thursday staged protest against the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel deployed at the Shaheed Mor checkpost. They held the FC personnel on duty responsible for the death of a patient with cardiac problem who breathed his last at the roadside checkpost after his vehicle was **t allowed to pass through.The members of the All Torkham Custom Clearance Agents Union also participated in the protest.
The protesters gathered at Shaheed Mor checkpost near the Torkham border and blocked the Torkham-Landikotal Road for traffic for two hours. The protesters chanted slogans against the FC for carrying out unnecessary checking at the Shaheed Mor checkpost.
Khanzad Gul Shinwari and Hayatullah Shinwari said that despite serious health condition of the heart patient the FC personnel did **t allow the vehicle to shift him to a hospital on time.The family members of the deceased said they were transporting the patient Ajab Khan Shinwari, a resident of Fatmikhel, to a hospital but he breathed his last waiting for the staff at the checkpost to allow the vehicle.
The protesters appealed to the G Frontier Corps and the military high-ups to take **tice of the incident and initiate an inquiry against the FC personnel responsible for the incident.The protesters ended their protest and reopened the road for traffic after military officials held talks with them and assured them that an inquiry would be conducted.
