The New York Times is shutting down its NYT **w app, a move that pushes readers to use its main news app.
The company an**unced the decision in a **te from Kinsey Wilson, the VP of in**vation and strategy, and David Perpich, head of product.
"Today, we are an**uncing that we are retiring NYT **w because we have successfully*incorporated so many of its in**vations into our main news products," Wilson and Perpich wrote in the **te (http://www.nytco.com/**te-from-kinsey-wilson-david-perpich-retiring-nyt-**w/).*
**w, the Times is only operating its main app for news. It still runs a variety of others including for crosswords, a city guide and real estate listings.
At its launch, NYT **w was an effort by the Times to reimagine how its news should look and read on mobile. The tone tended to be a little more relaxed than the usual Times writing and also played up visuals elements. Read more...
