DUBLIN: Pakistan was put into bat first as Ireland won the toss and chose to field, ahead of the start of the first One Day International.
Pakistani captain Azhar Ali lost the toss and his team was put into bat against Ireland. Sharjeel Khan is also part of the playing eleven squad as well as Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir.
Due to the rain, the match has been reduced to 47 overs a side. Pakistan are currently placed 9th in the ODI rankings, starkly different from their ICC Test team rankings in which they are placed at **. 2.
Pakistan has a chance to move one point above West Indies and qualify for the World Cup automatically. However, for it to do that, it must defeat Ireland and England in all its forthcoming matches.
