Says after Gujrat, he will hold public meeting in Jhelum; to begin march on Lahore after Sept 3
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Tuesday an**unced to move the Supreme Court (SC) against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his children having off-shore assets, as reflected in the Panama Leaks.
He told a media conference here after chairing a meeting of the party’s senior leadership that even if his popularity dipped, he would **t give up his movement against corruption for which the accountability of the prime minister was the prerequisite.
The PTI chairman lamented that Pakistan’s institutions stood ruined because of rampant corruption and vowed to rid Pakistan of this menace, as this was leading the nation **where.
Imran said they had prepared a petition to be filed in the Supreme Court. He claimed to have documentary evidence of money-laundering of 35,0000 dollars, the beneficiary of which, was Nawaz Sharif. The PTI chairman pointed out that this amount was sent for Shamrock Corporation. He said this revelation was made in a World Bank report. Imran regretted they had been waiting from a response from the prime minister on the PanamaLeaks for the five months.
Spelling out next phase of his movement for accountability, he said that he would lead a rally in Gujrat and after seven days of that, a public meeting would be held in Jhelum. “And, if there is ** response from the Prime Minister by September 3, we will march to Lahore from Gujranwala and an**unce new line of action there. The march from Gujranwala to Lahore has been named Pakistan March,” he said.
About his statement that Prime Minister had offered to make the Army Chief field marshal, he said a politician, belonging to the ruling PML-N, had informed him about making this offer to the army chief but he had already an**unced to retire in **vember.
Imran said they had complete evidence of money-laundering done for Nawaz Sharif and that his daughter Maryam was made owner of off-shore companies at the age of 20.
Asked about lack of popularity of PTI’s, particularly during the last rally from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, Imran said he was **t concerned about that and would **t give up his struggle against corruption, even at the cost of his popularity.
Imran claimed sea of people at Lahore rally would prove how popular PTI was, claiming his was the most popular political party of Pakistan.
He strongly condemned the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Balistan, and emphasised the Prime Minister Nawaz put aside his business interests and give a direct statement on it. He insisted **t the Advisor to him on Foreign Affairs, but the Prime Minister himself should issue a strong statement of condemnation.
PTI chairman said the silence of the world community on what was happening in Indian Occupied Kashmir was regrettable.
